I am replacing my damaged red Lucas throttle potentiometer with a new red Lucas pot, however, the wire colors do not match, and the connectors are different. The jaguar electrical schematic has the wires labeled as yellow with pink stripe, yellow with black stripe and yellow with brown? stripe. The new potentiometer has a red, green and yellow wire.
Any connector will do. The Tpot wires and their loom equivalents are:
Red: goes to Yellow/Pink 5 volts
Green: goes to Yellow/White Signal out
Black: goes to Yellow/Black 0 volts
If you connect them up, you should find the variable signal on the Green wire - which should be connected to the Yellow/white in the loom. The yellow/pink supplies the basic 5 volt input. To set it: Switch on ignition, without starting engine, andusing a voltmeter check that the signal output on the green wire is 0.32 volts(+ or - 0.02 volts) with the capstan wheel in the closed throttle position.Adjust as necessary via the 2 clamping screws. That is the information I was looking for.
I am assuming that the Yellow wire on the new Tpot will connect to the Yellow/Black wire and the Red and Green wires will connect as you have described.
