Default Tire Sizes

Just home from the British Car Show at Oakville, Ontairio. Out of inerest I went along the XJS lineup and noted what tires were being used, I was curious in case I ever have to buy new tires. So the manufacturer and model range surprised me. I hoep this comes through if I cut and paste from Excel.

I noticed the 17" Kents when you posted a photo in the bumper thread and meant to ask how you came by them. Did you get them custom made, or did you find them available somewhere? Though I'm usually not a fan of what I call 'out of period' wheel diameters, your Kents are a striking a statement. I like the nod to tradition with the modern flair, even if it's a bridge too far for me.

thanks. They are made by Image Wheels in the UK. They are made to order. 17” is as big as Id go on an xjs. Which one was yours?

Ah Bill, from a distance I saw you peering at my tires (1988 Continentals). Was worried you had a knife in hand. False alarm
It was a fun day. Now dreaming about that Lotus Esprit in JPS black and gold.........

The 17' tires/wheels didn't look out of place on the car at all. Larger wheels than that starts getting get into rubber band tire territory, though.

My car currently has P4000 15" tires that are 23 years old, i will just replace them with other 15" tires shortly, though. Gotta get the fuel system right and the brake lights working first.
