Tires
It's time to replace the tires on my XJ-S, which are wrong sized Uniroyal Tiger Paw because I didn't know any better when I got the car 6 years ago.
My choices for an all weather 215/70 VR 15 seem to be either the highway robbery price of the Michelin XWX... https://www.cokertire.com/215-70vr15-michelin-xwx.html
Or the relative mystery brand Otani:

Thoughts? Are the XWX tires really $385 worth of goodness per tire, or is that just the inflated price of supply and demand? Anyone have experience with the Otani tire?
Thanks in advance,
Rhett

No experience with Otani.
Those XWXs are for the Ferrari and Aston Martin restoration crowd. I have very serious doubts that they worth the huge expense in a practical sense.
You might find something more to your liking in 215/65x15 or 225/60x15. The choices are very limited for 215/70 as you've found out.
Cheers

Will those work? I heard uniroyal are junk to.

On my XJS I run 225/60R15s. I like the bigger tires on the sedans. I've mostly used Falkens in the past, with the old tread pattern for the Ziex 912 now being made on "Ohtsu" brand instead. They seem to be grippy, so they wear down quickly.
Really good bang for you buck right now are the General altimax RT43s. They sit high up on lists but are significantly cheaper than the next up Michelins that are only marginally better.

usually buy my tires from Discount Tire Direct, have them shipped to my home and have my garage put them on.

The 215 70 R15 is the factory size and is a bigger diameter again like the post above from AFRetired

Thats looks a good tyre...
I run these tyres below as they are well built and cheap and look really good on the car.
