Does a 1990 XJ6 and a 1993 XJS use the same transmission?

1993 V12 or 6 cylinder? If 6 and the XJ6 (XJ40) has the ZF 4hp22, then yes.

The 1990 XJ6 uses the ZF 4HP24 (electronic) gearbox. The XJS should have the same gearbox.

The 1988/89 XJ6 uses the ZF 4HP22 (manual throttle valve cable).
