Default Transmission oil level

Ok, im a bit lost, need some help, when i bought the car, it was driving nicely, except for overheating, but was shifting good.
Transmission oil was brown, smell burned and oil dipstick was showing waaay over full on cold, all plastic thing was covered.
I managed to get 6 litres of oil using my oil pump, and another 300 ml from oil pan. I put back 5 litres, and it still covering whole plastic thing at the end of dipstick.

Dipstick is 73.5 cm long

You must check the trans oil level with the engine running, having shifted the gear selector into drive and reverse a few times first. Best to do it with the gearbox warmed up after a 15 minute run.

I'd pump out a litre and check again....after the 15 minute drive as mentioned. ATF expands a lot when hot. Checking it cold or warm is frustrating.

Cheers

PS- Since the fluid was in such bad shape I'd repeat the entire process after a few miles of driving. Perhaps even repeat it twice. The transmission holds about 10 litres total. If you remove and replace 5 or 6 litres you're leaving a lot of the burnt fluid behind, contaminating the new.
