Transmission pan upgrade
So due to a lack of reverse I am rebuilding the transmission in my car, and I like to improve on things while I have it apart that I may not have another convenient opportunity to later. I see a lot of aftermarket pans for these transmissions, but they used these transmissions in such a wide variety of applications so I am curious to know which pans people have used with these cars if they changed from the stock pan. I am potentially looking to increase fluid volume if it wont make the pan sit too low and I am looking for one with a drain plug to make maintenance life easier.
The Moroso pan for the GM400 is the only really good deep pan. Properly welded, twin drain plugs at the lowest point. Highly recommended. But pricey...

I see what you mean about pricey, I will think on it some more. I haven't pulled the rear end yet to see whats up with the sticky brakes so my project budget may have to get spent back there instead depending on what I find. Thank you for the link
I've been following this thread because I'm getting close to working on the transmission next. I was thinking 'how expensive could it be - it's something you only have to buy once' then I clicked the link and said no thank you. I'm not spending $325 for a transmission pan
Is there something more reasonably priced that might be closer to stock depth?

I found a few other places that sell that pan in more the 260 dollar range - not sure what kind of shipping charges that tack onto that but I doubt its 65 dollars lol. Jegs sells that one and they quite often have sales and discount codes that you might be able to capitalize on to bring that price down a bit.
