Twin Turbo V12 project.
Anyone fancy buying a TWR cylinder block 6.1lt, forged steel crank, Gran Tourismo 'ultra killer' cams, Omega pistons (all balanced, weighed the same) and magnesium throttle bodies? Also a 6 speed box with custom bell housing? It isn't cheap, but 5-600bhp possible depending on management?
@M90 - the box is a ZF S6-40 Corvette unit. The engine isn't assembled. All timing parts included, it's up to you to build it! The box also comes with Ferrari Daytona paddle clutch plate, and organic AP Racing clutch plate. Serious kit, serious power. Think rev's and flames.
something just occured to me. if your running an aftermarket cam with a larger grind that draws less vacuum, does your vacuum advance still function properly. and by "function properly" im not just asking if it still works. does it still advance your timing the same amount as before?

if you are going make major mods to engine,, all ignition timing advances will be done in the ECU. a fully adjustable standalone unit.
honestly its the only way to , if you have to use the distributor, lock internal advance , and do adjustments in the ECU, for mine i use a hand held box, i can adjust both fuel and ignition while i.m driving!
when i did mine it was 16yrs ago, so tech is not like todays stuff, but its lightyrs ahead of the old LUCAS.
my car is finished and done(as far as i need)! i'm thinking of selling, i'm gettin older, so your values change along with time

i'm using a SDS EFI system,its from Calgary canada, (SIMPLE DIGITAL SYSTEMS).
they got a lot of experiance in standalone ECUs, maybe to many to decide from!
altho Megasquirt has good stuff, again lot of choice, but its helpful to speak to some one in tech dept>

well, i havent given up hope yet on a FI V12. twin turbo? not gonna happen. EFI? not with this ancient system.
im back to looking at a couple of m90 variations that will allow you to remote mount them (within the confines of the belt drive system), and feed the delta air in such a way as a CSC or turbo system.
gotta get this pig running first. lol

Ok to get this back on topic - I have calculated turbo maps for 2 Mitsubishi turbos both TD05's a 16G and 20G compressors.
Both would be a good match for the V12 in a twin setup, I don't know about the USA but these are readily available in Aus. They are a popular cheaper upgrade for the Subaru guys

i'm not saying i know much about turbo systems, but i been doing turbo buildups, since 1983!
and i can just look at a turbo,holding it in my hands, and know how it will perform, on a particular engine, for a 4cyl, to a 12cyl.etc.
most guys go to big on sizing,thats fine if you are going ***** out racing, and lag/ spool is not a problem like leaving a stop light at 5000rpm, and not crusing around on a saturday , drive in.
in other words, are you building a race car,or a smooth street car.
OK that said ,my opinion, Mitsu. TD05/16G, two of them is to big, good maxed out 750hp, and two 20Gs its possible to make 1000hp,(course the engine aint gonna like that diet).
these heavy tanks(XJS) just wont accelerate fast enough to boost where its useable, like when you pull away or start to pass, not enough pressure, the other guy who is already making boost and torque is gone, finally your big *** puffer is coming on// tadah, you run out of road/or traffic is stacking up. been there done that.
but ONE 16G or a 20G, could be made to perform.
back a few yrs, it was very expensive to rebuild a Mitsu turbo, in comparison to a Garrett turbo!
plus mounting Garrett has far more options, many configurations, cheaper, and we are into modern ball bearing turbos, if you are to go for the project, might as well buy the best!
