Default Uhhhh wtf is this thing?

Sorry, I don't usually make posts like this, but I came across this in a car for sale on craigslist, and I was just sort of astounded.

Anyone seen one of these cupholders before??

Ive seen similar units on Ebay. Most have stainless steel cups. They fit in ashtray hole.

I've never seen those. Just looked it up and found some really generic looking plastic ones that seem to be from something else and they are upcharging for them.

Surprised I haven't seen them because I surf for ski slope stuff pretty often.

I wonder if someone just added a leaper to make it look official or where this is from...

Someone was selling that on eBay a number of years ago. Pop the ashtray out, and there was a wooden piece that matched the hole to prevent it from sliding laterally.

There was nothing to prevent it from popping up vertically if you hit a bump or something.

The leaper is there just to make it look like it belongs?

I did this in my XJ6 using aftermarket Tesla cupholders and a bit of leather.

That actually looks pretty clean. Too many of these look wacky and out of place for my liking.

Whats the material on the vertical section of your dash, where the computer and lights and stuff are?

We are all meant to be smoking cigars on our way to get tea.

Thanks. More leather, with an embossed texture.

I noticed these cup holders on EBay today for $40. They definitely are not as nice as the inlay and leather job shown earlier, but they're easily removable and adjustable. Maybe okay for temporary use.

Those are the ones I saw and liked the most, they look like they are for something else though, so I am wondering where they are from.

They are charging $50 for them, but I bet some gas station sells them for 10 bucks somewhere

That looks like a good solution. I only went the leather route because my wood was peeling off those sections. Even so, the cupholders I used cost $50.

Yours look just about like they came that way. So I think it turned out pretty well.

It is interesting, I am not fond the vinyl/leather compared to the wood, but I think the black plastic cup holders with the black leather look pretty good, where I am not sure about the stainless steel option you can get for replacement wood ski slopes.

They just look weird, nothing else in the whole car is stainless steel...
