Default Urgent!

Left the dashcam plugged in for a week while gone, power locks won't open the trunk to get cables on the battery. What can I clamp to in the engine to get power just to do get the lock to move? Is the red cable/bar that the starter cable bolts to is good for + ? and negative is anything on the body?

Yes, the starter is +, as are the terminals on the firewall and the body or engine block is ground. However, you should be able to get in the trunk with the key. My 94 lets me in the trunk with the just the key when I have removed the battery for the winter. I think the procedure is turn either right or left ( can't remember) then move the key back to the middle, vertical position and the latch should unlock.

Thnx, got it with the terminals thankfully my truck is right there with dual batteries. The trunk latch has always puzzled me I can never figure out if it has other functionality like you said or if my power locks just have a mind of their own...which they usually do.
