V12 autobox cable

V12 autobox cable
Hi, I’ve re connected the gear selector cable but things aren’t quite right. I can select all applications but reverse on the car doesn’t match up quite right with the r on the console. Also 1st doesn’t seem to go 100% back on the console. Will the cable need resetting do you think or is something else not quite adjusted correctly? Many thanks for any assistance

Look carefully at the gearbox end to ensure the outer is properly seated in its holder, ie really home in the hole it goes into. If it is the same box and it has not been touched, and the selector and cable has not been, it should not need adjustment. If all looks OK, disconnect the cable at the box end, by hand push the box selector lever fully forward (which is Park); then place the stick in Park, and carefully reconnect and retry.
If still out, then the adjuster is on the rear of the cabin gear selector; where the cable joins the selector mechanism there is an adjustment mechanism, not unlike your bike brakes used, but bigger!.
