V12 timing chain sprockets..where to get new ones?
Hi,
Collecting more parts for my V12 engine build and am finding that I can get the timing chain, slippers and tensioner with no problem, and I can get a new timing chain sprocket for the crank, but no one appears to list the aux drive sprocket or the camshaft sprockets as available? Does anyone know who could supply new ones at present?
Thanks
Andy

If your sprockets are worn out you either have an extremely high mileage car or the oil was badly neglected and in a perpetual state of being too low.
Back in the 1980’s I started to collect V12 engines. I was a racer and I expected to blow up a few. Plus I figured I could sell them on the side. I never paid more than $300 for one And after a while I was getting them for $150 and eventually people would offer me their rusty Jag for free if I just hauled it off
I stopped at 50 because that’s all the room I could devote. In 15 years I sold 15. Then construction was going to begin so I stripped them all for “. Clean” metal prices ( in other words the aluminum had no steel in it the steel was separate from cast iron. Etc).
Anyway with 50 junk engines, none were worn out. A few had overheated but could have been easily repaired. Most were in great shape.
to check if your sprockets really need replacing do a quick assembly just snug is OK and just of the crank and cams. Look at where the chain adjustment is. If there is still room to tighten it, you’re good to go.
