I just spent the day trying to understand the fuel injection system on my 1976 XJ-S by following the fuel lines from end to end and wrapping them with yellow pipe cleaner. While this is definitely an idiot's way to learn how things work, it does the trick for me.
Now that I removed the entire fuel system, I looked up what is available new and what I have to refurbish. To my surprise the original cold start injectors (Bosch 0 280 170 010) cost a small fortune ($400-$600). That is as much as a new set of 12 fuel injectors.
Will any other cold start injectors work? Bosch W0133-1920269 costs a lot less and fits other Jaguars.
Thanks,
Andy

No way even I would pay that.
All my V12's had the cold start injectors, and associated wiring etc deleted very early in the ownership trip.
Cold start was easy:
Ignition ON
Push the accelerator pedal to the floor ONCE and release.
Start the engine.
That single stroke will fire ALL 12 Injectors once, thus spraying fuel into the system, and that has always been sufficient for all of them.
I made a simple flat plated from sheet alloy to cover the holes.
Jaguar themselves deleted, refitted, deleted again, etc, the cold start Injectors throughout the V12's long life.

I looked at the $$ value stated, and converted to drinking time, and I would be well and truly "oiled" for nearly 1 year.
Gotta get the priorities in order.
