Today I added bluetooth

I wanted to add bluetooth to my '96 xjs but was not excited about the new radio looks. I had been using a bluetooth to fm transmission but it was very lacking. I decide to go with an adapter plugged into the cd changer. I worked great. I don't get hands free but I had to do nothing but unplug the cd changer and plug this in. Great sound. I found it at A2D-JAG97 Audio Streaming Adapter for 1986-97 Jaguar XJ and XK :: Bluetooth

Plus I polished chrome and conditioned the seats.

Next I need to find an upholsterer to replace the lining and padding on the original boot cover. The lining is breaking down and stained the headliner.

Finally found out where the fluid leak is coming from; at least the one that is leaving stains all over the road that look like claw marks.
managed to park it so I could see underneath and there was liquid dribbling out of the boot floor.
Aha, petrol leak.
Ripped everything out of the boot, put the ignition on and could see petrol dribbling from the centre of the filter which was odd so switched it off. Then it stopped so it was only leaking when the engine was running and the pump operating.
Couldn't see where it was actually coming from so wrapped blue paper towels around the filter ports and fired it up again.
Hey presto the right hand towel was getting wet so it was coming out of the hose and running down to the centre of the filter and dripping into the boot and thence out of the drain hole. Tightened up the jubilee clip and leak stopped.

Good find Steve. I might be worth cutting an inch or so of the hose and then refitting and reclamping it, as the hose gets deformed under the clip sometimes, and may leak again.
Does the XJS get a death-row reprieve??

Can't send anyone to death row until they are better!

excellent thankyou. Can you do one for the fuel injector overhaul. Thanks

brinny 07-24-2018 02:37 PM

Pleased it wasn’t too bad Steve. I know sometimes these cars can push you to the limit, then in a flash your on the way back up. Nice one

Yeah, glad I didn't have to pull the tank out.
Hopefully the various smells will dissipate now, got a new boot lid seal to fit too which should help.

Forgot to post that I had just spent £1300 getting some welding done just to add insult to injury.

Boy am I happy that both radius arm mounts on my car are fine. The area is totally solid...

Bought a new set of front and rear seat covers, waiting for them to arrive, then will have the project of recovering the seats when the car is put up for the year

Daim 07-25-2018 09:32 AM

Two new fuel cooler insulation sleeves. Mine were braking up. So two brand new old stock ones. At least it'll look clean and new again :)

New front shocks (KYB) Saturday. Full set of 4 ordered for the rear today..

Rather frustrated with try to replace the emergency brake pad. What a terrible design lol finally got the mechanism out and brake pads out, trying to reinstall but lining everything up with the car on jacks isn't a cup of tea.

I have to do it for my safety or i'd just leave it. One pad broke off the steel.

Just unboxed these centre box replacement pipes from Simply Performance https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...331e255c0.jpeg

After dealing with front-end wandering/vibration for over a year I've decided to go try the shotgun approach and redo every. single. bushing/mount on the front end. If this doesn't solve it I'm going snap.

Leo
I would be very interested to hear your opinion on how much louder they make the car.
