Default What is this noise?

I decided that a direct question might be best. 1986 XJS HE 12. when running steady has a light metallic sound like something spinning and hitting and rubbing something. Sound comes from top of motor. Doesn't seem to vary much with rpm. Car runs poorly and won't rev very high. Oil pressure shows 50lbs. on gauge. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

IT SOUNDS LIKE a dropped seat as it fits with the lack of power etc.

My name is Brent and I live in Martinez.
I just finished, (well, I guess we're never really finished) a major
restoration on an '86 XJS 5.3 v12.
If you want to message me privately, it is possible I could come
and lend an ear. Lack of power can be many things, distributor- lack of lubrication, throttle position sensor- from worn carbon traces, damaged Injector harness from heat and cracking, etc. I had a failing CPU where only half the engine would run.
Let me know if you are not too far from me.
Cheers,
Brent

I really appreciate these personal offers. The Hess car I was looking at got sold a couple of hours before I got back to the seller. So I'll be looking for another a car. I do regret missing out on this particular car but this time I'm going to look for an up and running currently being driven XJS, whether it is a coupe or convertible. I would really like to be able to enjoy the car for a while before the wrenching starts. I'll post the info. when I find a new car. Thanks for all the help.
