Default What is this piece?

I dont have pictures this moment, but going to describe it.

1989 J XJS 5.3 V12.

On the drivers side of the engine, towads the top of the engine (closest to driver), there is a rubber wide tube that fits onto a maybe 1inch diameter metal fitted bevel.

What is this? Pics will come but figure many of you know these better than the back of your hand.

bevel? Not sure what you are talking about by the description .First thing that comes to mind with 1 inch tube is the drain for cowl, but that appears on both sizes of the car.

Other two things I can think of is the boot/cover for the PCV filter and the air balance tubes in the back. The air balance tubes are on both sides in the center though.
