Default What Replacement Windshield?

My front windshield is pitted pretty badly. When I drive towards the sun I can barely see out of it. What glass company do you use? I tried a company called Glass America and they told me they could not get the glass for the XJS. Am I going to have a problem getting the glass?

Al,

Make sure that whoever you buy it from understands that you have a convertible. The glass is different to the Coupe. Also make sure that they have done removal and refitting before on an XJS convertible. You really need to find someone who has experience of fitting these late bonded XJS screens. The mastic retention dam is currently unavailable from Jaguar

And finally, it is extremely likely, unfortunately, that you will have some corrosion in the screen flange which, if left unchecked can make it's way unseen all the way into the inner wing. So, don't expect to be able to remove the screen and refit it in the same day.

Good luck

Paul

Rock Auto also, got a tint top one for my 86 coupe, no problem getting in or old one out. DIY, cost about $150 w/s, $36 for rubber seal, $20 for sealant. Hardest part was not messing up stainless trim.

Had to replace a windshield on one of our '95 verts. Went through Safelite glass. They had to order one in because the '95 has a black out circle on inside of glass to block view of of back side of rear view mirror where it glues to the windshield.

I called and found out who was the best windshield installer for Safelite in my area and that is who I had install the windshield and had no issues. Total cost to replace windshield was under $ 300.00.

Good luck with your project.
