It should be connected to the base of the distributor cap...... apparently it's to vent the distributor cap. The filter is there to prevent moisture getting inside the cap.

Exactly what it's supposed to vent, i'm not sure, but I guess there is "stuff" going on in the dizzy..... probably at least some arcing, so I suppose it's reasonable.

It looks like an inline fuel filter to me, but I suppose it could be used as a filter for the distributor. The run vacuum to the distributor cap because crankcase fumes build up inside it and eventually it would ignite and blow the cap off.

The tube leads to the side of the distributor facing the cabin, where there is an 'outlet fitting' it fits to. On the top of the distrubutor is another 'outlet' from which a tube should run towards the B bank manifold, under it and join up to the rubber connector between the (already famous) Auxiliary Air Valve and the air filter box.

As the engine runs, air is continuously drawn through the filter (to keep it clean) and though the distributor (to stop any build up of explosive fumes) and into the engine!

Thank you. So the output end of the filter isn't connected to anything I assume? It's supposed to be as in the picture?
