Heh guys.

I know a bloke who is selling a set of lattice alloys off a 1993 Face lift model for $980 (Australian Dollars)

Is that a good price or no?

Did the 93 facelift come in 16" or 15" ?

paulyling,

Jaguar changed in 1993 from 15 to 16. So it could have either depending when it was made. There are 15" lattice and 16" lattice available. 16" lattice are rarer. An upgrade to 16" is a good idea as the general availability of tyres is greater.

Thanks guys. What about the price though? Is that decent or no?

And does the bolt configuration match up 1985 vs 1993 ?

Can't advise you on the price.
But if the picture shows the rims involved, those are 15".
The 16" have a shorter and wider looking centre cap.

Wow, I was given a pristine set of 5 15" lattice wheels
by a KIWI now living in a nearby town.

They fir my XJ wuzza six just fine and look really great.

Too fat for the spare well in the boot, though. I kept the best
old tire on a Kent for that. Even it is a tad fat and the lid rides just a bit tall.

I am quite pleased, though.

Yes, the hubs are identical from that point of view. But 15 inch tyres are becoming rarer and rarer and more and more expensive, so an OEM 16 inch rim is a far better buy, I believe, just a PTJS posted. For my money the 16 inch "modern starfish" (effectively the more modern versions of your current rims) as fitted to the later XJSs are the best upgrade rims to go for. For an out of date tyre size I think the price you are being asked for is a bit steep.

Many thanks for the replies guys.

Yes I can confirm the car in the picture is the one being scrapped. (Not sure why).

I actually like my original Starfish alloys but these just popped up and I was keen on the design when I first bought my XJS, so it got me thinking. I just really have no idea what they are worth so was hard to know whether or not it was a good deal.

As you say though the 15" are becoming rarer. Maybe that in itself is worth picking up I dunno...

Not the rims becoming rarer, Paul, just the tyres! In the UK it will invalidate your insurance to fit tyres of a lower speed rating than the car's top speed, so high-speed rated 15 inchers are quite hard to find apart from the odd specialist place, and expensive. I changed from the same 15 inch starfish you have, which I really like, to the 16 inch modern ones for that reason.

Bro

Never mind the Wheels,

Why don't you buy the whole Car! She looks a real beaut and then use one or the other for Spares if you need to.

You could probably get the whole Car for around $2,000

nah the bloke is already selling it in bits and pieces. I still couldn't find out why as he says the engine is good. Bloody waste if you ask me. What a beautiful car!

Hi Bro

He probably thinks that the sum of the Parts is worth more and he could well be right but only if he can manage to find enough 'Punters'

Is She a 6cyl or a V12?

If She is a V12 I would leave her alone (parts wise) and still try and buy the whole Car or Wheels and Tyres $500 Max.

Well, I tried selling my 15 inch lattice wheels of my 91 for $150, centers, lugs included, pick up only. One call if I delivered them . Long story short, there still in my garage. You could probably sell all four for $50 if you delivered, cleaned & mounted them on the car for the buyer.

Lol but he told me it "It was real cheap!"

Nah I think I am happy to keep the period correct star fish.

I think if I get lattice alloys I will get the XJS that comes with it...as a second auto of course!

If anyone in the UK needs a set let me know. Not perfect but the spare is, and was never used.

Agreed, my 1993 (Aug) came with 16inch lattice wheels (even full size spare)
Not sure about value
