Default Wish Me Luck!!

Today I fly up to Syracuse, NY from Venice, Fl to pickup my 96 XJS 2+2 Convertible.

I purchased this car while on vacation with the kids 3 wks. ago. The car was only 4 miles from the kids and a great buy w/83K miles.

I plan on driving this weekend back to Florida.

My route will be 81 to 64 to 95 to 10 to 75.

Hopefully an uneventful trip. Have done it many times.

Let you know when I get home.

Thanks

Good luck! A few years ago I drove my '95 from Lutz, Florida to my hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts a distance of 1345 miles and all went well. I'll do it again. BTW, the XJS is a far better car than the Merc.

Many moons ago did a 4000 mile round trip from London to Moscow in my MGC Roadster; only problem was a collapsed front wheel bearing that I had fitted myself and overtightened. (Doh!).
On the way out, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of Poland.
Back on the road in 90 minutes for the grand price of $20 and 2 packs of Marlboro; may the Lord praise the man in the hat.
Got myself in the Guiness Book of Records on that trip; towed an MGB 975 miles from Moscow to West Berlin.
Got stopped for speeding in Russia (Eddie said that he was getting front end lift if I went above 75 mph!) and had my passport taken off me which I rank as a sphincter factor of 10.
Towed Eddie through Checkpoint Charlie which is probably still the coolest thing that I have ever done.

Softball60.....good luck.....cell phone the most important tool plus a decent basic toolkit in trunk.

I only had to do 330m in my 1987 Xj6 a few years back....however it looks like I'll be doing 1345m to bring home a 1994 2+2 convertible V12 6.0 at the end of the month.....is yours a 4 I6 or 6 V12?

I would be interested in what mpg you get over that distance.
On a different note "Every British Sports Car known to mankind"....how about a Berkley T60 or B100 (well, OK not exactly the epitome of British sports cars but they sure broke down a lot)....had both back in the sixties in good old London town.

Keep us in the loop and how about pics of the road trip?

Best, Rob.

Well here goes....

1. Flew into Syracuse, last Wednesday and arrived at midnight.
2. Ran around Thursday to the Motor Vehicle in Syracuse to get temp plate to drive the XJS back to Florida.
3. Spent the rest of the day working on the car, rubbing out the paint, changing the oil, checking out belts etc.....You know the drill!!!
4. AT 5PM GOT RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL.....POSSIBLE HEART ATTACK!!!!!!

Passed out at the kids house and scared the Hell out of Them!!! My wife was still in Florida and had to be phoned....Lot;s of Panic in NY and Florida.

5. Ran a number of tests for the heart (Had Open Heart surgery..6 bypasss's completed in 2012)

I'm still alive!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD!!!!!

After a day in the Hospital I basically walked out and said that I would follow up with my Cardiologist in Florida.
6. After my wife figured I would live she had to fly up to Cleveland to our other daughter's house to babysit the Grand Kids while my daughter and son-in-law flew to California for a Board Meeting.
7. Relaxed at my daughters till Tuesday this week and Drove to Cleveland
8. Drove from Syracuse, NY to Shaker Heights, OH, 320 miles

THE JAG RAN FANTASTIC!!! EVEN GOT 24MPG
SO SMOOTH AND QUIET

9. My wife is driving back to Florida w/me on Saturday, this week

I will report back on the 1100 mile portion of the trip next week

Thanks for all Threads!!

wow. glad to hear you are recovering.

assuming this was not an MI? and please do followup with your card when you return to florida.

i am reminded of the safety warning for the ED medications, to consult with your physician if you are healthy enough for sexual intercourse.

"Please consult with your physician to determine if you are healthy enough for the full XJS experience."

As you all have been updated I did the trip from Syracuse, NY to Shaker Heights, OH. Met my wife at the daughter's house. My daughter and Son-in-law flew to California for a Board Meeting.

My wife and I left Ohio on Saturday morning

WHAT A FANTASTIC TRIP!!!!!!!
THE JAG RAN GREAT!!!!!!!!
SET CRUISE CONTROL ON 70 ALL THE WAY!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST TRIP......EVEN BETTER THAN THE TRIP I MADE WITH THE MERCEDES.

THE JAG WAS FLAWLESS!!!!!!

Got back this morning, Monday

By the way I go see my cardiologist next week.

Tell me how to load pictures on this site and I will let you see how good this CAT LOOKS!!!!!!

Heart attack obviously caused by having an XJS that wasn't broken down in some way; a shock to anyones system!
Thankfully a rare condition and unlikely to happen again anytime soon!
Good luck with the car and the ticker.
