Default Wood veneer

Hey Guys,

I purchased a wood veneer kit to replace my old and cracked panels, the kit I ordered was brand in the box, is it common for all the pieces to be different shades, or did I get a mismatched set. The guy offered to return it for a full refund, but I just wanted to know was it a common occurance.

Thanks,

Steve

No, that is not common. In fact, that is why people purchase the wood in complete kits. All should match.

I should say that pieces probably will not match car to car.

I sent a few of my panels to MAdera Concepts in CA to be redone. I had the ashtrays removed. Looks great with the stick.

A new set should all match perfectly. Does the actual wood veneer look different piece to piece or do some just appear lighter in color to the others?

The grain of the wood should all match perfectly, since it should all be cut out of the same piece of wood, for the most part. Generally the dash may joint another piece at the center. The shades may vary slightly, depending on if your looking at the figured part, or the unfigered part of the wood. The line where the two pieces of wood join should be near invisable, but can be seen. Thats why its important that two very similar grains should be chosen. If yours is all mis-matched, send it back for another one, or a refund. There are plenty of places to get a good product.

Disregard the part about the joint in the middle, I was thinking about my XJ6, the XJS should not have a joint in the middle.

Wow Im extra late responding, I lost my Sidekick, got the G1 now..a must have. Anyway back on topic, I got the kit from Engel Imports in Michigan via an Ebay auction (item#360093852001), I guess I have to unistall it and ship it back. Really good price, I hope they have a matching set. While were on the subject, I have no idea how to remove the "SRS" panel, to replace with the new veneer, I damaged the whole console, not knowing how to remove it. ANY help would be appreciated..Thanks
