I think if you tried to drive it home, a reasonably optimistic scenario is you blow a coolant hose about 150 miles in and have to deal with that on the side of the road in a distant state...
Better to trailer it home as others have suggested. I'm about to ship mine to Maine for $900 as I can't afford to take the time off work to drive it there...
Put mine on uship for an auction, but all the auctions ended well above what reliable shippers were advertising on their websites. I was disappointed...

Overheating and interior
I don't see it now but someone mentioned something about watching out for overheated engines. Any tell tale signs to look for to tell if a Jag engine has been overheated? I. Getting the feeling that the people who currently have the car know little about the history.
They also sent me a pic of the interior today. The leather has actually separated at the seams. Not sure if this is fixable or if I'll be looking for new seats/covers. I also see that they have switches (the windows) pulled up from the center console. Not sure what the story on that is.
I'm beginning to think that I should just look for a jag that's in overall good condition that has a thorough history as it seems they can be bought for around $5-6,000. I'm starting to think I'd spend more than that to get this one up and running again.

Ahh, that's easy. British Racing Green. I grew up with a 1952 MG TD in that colo(u)r and now my brain thinks every car from Britain should be BRG.
I think I may throw out a ridiculously low offer for the car as I think it would be fun to work on (famous last words?), but holding out for one that's in good shape with a good history in BRG may be the way to do it.

I live in the Atlanta area (Lawrenceville) and would not drive it home aftersitting for ten years. All rubber products must be considered to be shot. The brakesare what you trust your life to and there is no reason to put yourself inposition of a panic stop only to find about 50% effective braking. Get somebodydown here to look at it for you after you put a deposit on it pendinginspection.
Good Luck,
Ron
