Greetings,

i just removed this strap from the top of the battery clamp frame in the boot.

Its has just been hanging there for a while and i am curious what it is actually there for...?

I don't have any straps on my battery. It looks like a strap you attach to the battery posts to lift it out, but It is not Jaguar. Maybe a shop tool.

It is original Jaguar and part of the battery hold-down assembly;

He,he!!!

Very Jaguar!!! The most complex battery hold down, I've ever seen!!!

Use for the strap? Lift the battery. From the days before batteries came with lifting straps?

Its used to hold down the battery vent assembly.

Very early batteries had a separate part that sat on top of the battery. you can see it in the illustration.

Later batteries had a different less complex vent system.
