XJS redesign video
Even though they are obviously pulled from the same original parts bin, I would say they are unlikely to have the same part numbers, as the Jeep mirrors would have an AMC part number.
Also if I recall correctly, on the Jeep they had both powered and non-powered versions depending on year. I've parked next to a Grand Wagoneer and the mirrors are the same. I seem to remember seeing them on another lower production car, but can't recall which at the moment. Given both Jaguar and Jeeps fortunes at the time, it probably made sense to use an off-the-shelf design from a US OEM supplier to the automotive industry rather than having to design their own. Or one got it from the other.
It's kind of funny given how different the two vehicles are that would share a design detail like that.

I just got around to watching the video. I don't see it as an improvement at all. Whatever happened to that talented design student who was on here a few years back? He had some good looking sketches. Tried a couple of times to find the thread, but no luck. Anyone else remember?
This is a good read regarding the design process of the XJS. It looks like the initial design was for a sharp-nosed car with pop-up headlights, but US bumper and light restrictions meant a radical rethink.
