Default XJS speedo transducer DAC4569

Greetings

speedo is bouncing around and behaving a bit erratically at times. How do i test the transducer in the transmission to see if that is the problem.....?

If i can eliminate the transducer by checking it and replacing it if need be my next step will be to pull the instrument cluster and check that...?

Thanks

Darren Taylor

Good question! Others will chime in with better info, but......

I 'think' the transducer generates a square form/square wave signal. As far as I know you need an oscilloscope to properly check the transducer signal.

I think a DVOM could be used to check for "alive or dead" but wouldn't tell you the quality of the signal....which you'd need to know trying to diagnose erratic operation.

Let's hear what the others say.

Cheers
DD

Thanks Doug,

what would the basic test be using a multi-meter, could then compare this to a test on a new unit...?
