Default XJS Starter harness Bracket

Well I finally got my starter back from the rebuilder and have it installed. Putting all the bits and pieces back together. There is a harness bracket (see pictures below) that I don’t recall where is mounted to. I checked the other posts but nobody has seem to brought this up. It’s down by the starter.

Hi Doug,

I really appreciate the picture but unfortunately I do not see the harness bracket. It looks like the harness was removed. I can see the red/white trigger wire at the back top of the motor disconnected.

Ah, well.

IIRC, the bracket attaches to one of the bell housing mounting bolts, but i may be wrong. Its been over a year since I was in there. edit: I had a vision of teh bracket attaching above teh starter, to teh block, but maybe thats delusional. I remember the bracket, though, it wasn't in the best location to get to, but that describes just about everything on the motor....

Unless some one comes up with a definitive answer, I would just see where it "wants" to go, and use that location. Your first pic looks pretty likely.

Doug

Well, for some reason I thought it might go one of the starter lugs as crazy as it sounds .........

There are 2 brackets on the bell housing in your picture (white circles). One is for the transmission dip stick and the other is for a cross over tube. This bracket is around the trigger wire and battery cable down by the starter. The trigger wire and battery cable are routed on the right side (red).

The top circle is for the air injection system.

The only bracket i can remember holds the thick gauge wire in place, it comes down from the firewall and goes forward towards the starter, the bracket is held in place by one of the bell housing bolts. See pics below.

That appears to be it. I don't recall unbolting it. I guess it was removed prior to me and slid down when I removed the harness.
