Default Removing the side air vents and rear jag plinth?

Currently on my 07 XKR the side vents and rear Jaguar plinth between the lights are silver. I want to get these wrapped in Matt black, so will remove them.
Has anyone done this? I want to see what I'm getting myself into before I try and do it myself and break something!
I'm looking for some easyish instructions

I'll make a suggestion instead of answering your question directly. If I were you, I'd download the factory service manual off the internet on to your computer, or buy online the CD for the factory service manual. I've done the download from TOPIx - TOPIx

earlier this year and last week downloaded the same manual from the internet via EBAY.........JagDocs, The Source for Jaguar Documentation!

Once you do look in the section Body and Paint and then down to Front Fender Mouldings (76.10.48). Seems on the left side you'd turn the steering wheel full left turn............release the rear lower edge of the fender splash shield for access (three torx fasteners).........and the rest you can read from the manual that you download. You've probably already done this removal by this time by yourself.

http://www.jagdocs.com/index.php?mai...index&cPath=70 cost is very small for the value. I don't recommend the Topix route. Been there, done that. Noway.

I recently did both, used body filler on the "jaguar" to debagged it. and painted them both to match. the louvers will pop off, however, it is difficult to get them off without breaking the clips. I used a 2" metal spatula (used for drywall) to pop them off. if they break, you will need to replace them. start at the front, then it will slide of the black plastic vent.

the rear badge plate is very straight forward. from what i remember, there are 3 torx bolts accessible from the inside of the car. and then the edges are held down with double sided tape.

if you are mechanically inclined, both should be no problem. If not, i do not recommend doing the louvers as they can break easily.

Good Luck!

I've been watching youtube videos on plasti dip. That stuff looks too good to be true! Question: does it feel rubberized to the touch at all? Or is it smooth like paint?

Once dry, the surface is smooth but it does feel rubberized to the touch.

Thanks for the tip on this, I'm going to give this a go first to see how I get on. The great thing is that it's fool proof, if I don't like it simply peel it off

I thought about painting but then it makes that part look plastic. Same with the side vents. So I'm experimenting with Matt black (on my black car) to see if it gets a more metal look. So a $10 spray can of this plasti dip gives me a good none permanent platform to experiment.

I'm thinking Matt Titanium too, so keeps metal look and feel, but blackens it.

Hailers,
You can get a Jag CD from ebay for 8.30 pounds w/shpg Airmail from Scotland!
However, mine hasn't arrived yet; 8 days so far, coming by Tiger Moth or DH Chipmunk !

BRITANNIA.............I went the internet download way and put it on my computer and then also downloaded it to a flash drive that I can carry around with me on trips.

Plus in the past I downloaded from TOPIX and printed out the whole manual and have it in folders.

Thanks for the suggestion.
