05 xjr to 07xk ride comparison
I live over on the XJ forum and own an 05 XJR. The car is satisfactory in all respects except the seats are a bit over bolstered for my taste and the milage is now 61K +. I am considering making the 07 plus XK coupe my next Jag.
Is there is someone here who can give an informed opinion of the ride characteristics 05 plus XJR vs 07 plus XK, coupe or convertable?

Comparison
I've recently made the change from an '05 XK to an "08 XK. The basic and major difference is that the newer XK uses electronically controlled shocks that do a pretty decent job making the ride quite acceptable. Actually, the ride on the 08's optional 19" tires (275 rears) is actually better than the 05's ride on the 18" tires (255 rears). That was a pleasant surprise.
As far as handling, both cars push (understeer) in slower corners. The general handling at higher speed corners favors the '08 with better shock dampening all around and plenty of rubber working against less body weight. I also prefer the '08s steering, as well as the transmission tuning to the '05.

Thanks axr6. Your analysis of 07 plus XKs pretty much mirriors my logic in deciding to go for an 07 and up XK. Additionally, I do prefer the look of the newer cars.
My concern, however, is (XJR) vs XK ride quality. I did test drive an 07 XKR with Summer Hi Perf. tires and it was a non starter for my old body.
I am trying to find an 07 or better XK to test drive with 19" 4 Season tires. If the XK's ride is equal to my presently owned XJR ride I'm sold.
