Default '07 convertible interior leather panels and such question

I was just reminded of a problem that I would like to solve because of a new problem in the same area. As you can see in the photo below, the leather is shrinking and pulling away on the top of that bolster panel(I guess that's what it's called?). What have others done about this? Reupholster, or just buy a replacement piece? The passenger side looks fine. Second problem, one I noticed when we got the car 2 years ago and then forgot about it - the hole where the convertible top structure swings up just to the rear of the upholstery issue. I think there are covers that are supposed to "servo" up and fill that hole when the top is lowered. I think I see them in there. Am I wrong? If I'm right, is this a common problem?

That looks as though the only thing possible is a retrim, the problem being that, getting a match will be difficult, so if it's going to look odd then get both sides done for balance, perhaps go for a blue to match the car, and remember to order enough so that you can do any other bits in the future.

Something like this?

I'm lucky that I've two good retrimmers near me in the UK, one charged me just £750 for a complete retrim of my old X100, I sourced original jaguar leather and he did all seats and door cards.

On a side note it's encouraging to see another Brynner fan, was lucky enough to see him at the London Palladium in I think 1980...he left us too soon..Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera!

That leather still looks OK even though it's shrunken. I think that a trim shop should be able to stretch it and reglue it back in place. Check with the trim shops in your area. If necessary, you can also touch up the color using Dynamix, as I did on the driver's seat side bolster. See my post #3 and links therein:

You're right, that cover panel fell in and needs to be repaired. I don't have any idea how to do it, but you might be able to find some answers by doing an Advanced Search.

This should be what you need and comes with the sliding panel. I would ask for a picture of the area in question just to be sure. Also, offer $200 and see what he says.

Also, that panel is from a coupe, not a convertible.

There are a couple of threads that discussed the sliding panel issue, others have been able to fix it, depends on what is actually wrong, may have just come out of its track.

Makes you wonder what part of the animal that piece came from, looks like extreme shrinkage...

Another option would be to get upholstery shop to make you something similar to a dash cover.
Just have them put a flap in it to cover the holes.

CJ, it is the left, manufacturer sticker trumps hand written tag. Also, I just replaced my left side.
KJ, I did miss that it is a coupe version.

I actually referenced the Listing Title, not a written tag. I figured the main picture was mirrored and didn't peruse the remaining images. Guess the seller doesn't proofread his own listings.

Back to the Convertible structure hole covers that don't slide up anymore.... Is this a common problem? Is there a "how to" fixit post anywhere? I would use search, but I need to know what to call the bloody things first.

ETA: Never mind on the sliding plastic panel. I just found a thread on it. Funny thing is, I found it after a Goggle search. The search on this site is not very effective.
