Default The '07 K Speaks in Tongues....

So, In the vid below, whenever I start the XK, a woman's voice says two things: " (something that sounds like german)" and "connected!".

This is new, in the past few weeks.

Any ideas? Thanks!

It sounds like you have the Old Jaguars Bluetooth streaming adapter installed. That's what I hear each time I fire her up, and I started to hear that after installing the adapter.

I've never heard of this before, but it's possible that the source of that voice confirmation is from a dealer-installed Audio Connectivity Module that provided iPod connectivity. It appears that three different Audio Connectivity Modules were available for 2007 and 2008 X150 models, and the correct one for the vehicle depended on its VIN. The OP has a 2007.

Just a guess.

Although the audio in the video clip is not clear, it sounds like the first thing said is "Bluetooth mode." This is what I hear when I start my car with the Old Jaguars BSA installed. The Audio Connectivity Module does not have Bluetooth capability, right?

If the OP is so inclined he could pull the infotainment head unit out of the dash to check for add-ons.

Gee I wish mine did that!?

Actually like all of my other recent bluetooth purchases over the last couple of years e.g. BBQ speaker, Beats headphones, they all have the same voice (I'd always considered it sounded South East Asian).

So may be worthwhile confirming:

1) How long you've had your car?
2) Has it always done it
3) Any electrical add-ons....erm...added on?

Hi, folks -- been out all day and just got back.

Bill, that's exactly what it is, thanks. I installed the Old Jaguars BT a few weeks ago. Didn't make the connection (so to speak) that the two were related.

BTW, the sound is pretty good, certainly compared to the low quality of the Alpine radio.

Thanks, everyone.

Yeah, the first few trips after I installed mine, I thought I was hearing things. Then I began to focus on the voice when I started the car and realized it was part of the OJBSA.

Now, if you hear other voices you can't explain while driving, I suggest a séance, exorcism or psychiatry...

Unless there is someone in the passenger seat of the opposite gender....then you just need some guidance counselling...or better yet an ejector seat
