Default 07 supercharger vs 04 supercharger whine

I just picked up an 04 xjr for everyday and noticed the supercharger whine is much more noticeable and louder than my 07 xkr. I think the only engine differences are the addition of vvt (correct me if I'm wrong), are the superchargers the same ? My xjr does have an aftermarket intake installed, maybe the additional noise is attributed to intake ? Thanks

Jaguar put more effort into whine suppression in later models. Some of this can be undone to get the whine back, if desired.

what would you recommend to get a similar sound ? Does the intake need to be changed ?

That would make the most significant change. The X150 intakes have numerous resonators which mute the whine. Also remove the engine cover.

This will help quite a bit ! Factory paper best filtration but 40% larger filter area. No codes of any kinds . Supercharger noise will be louder
