Default 2011 XKR Convertible window problem

Just noticed that the rear window has detached at the top from the convertible top when up. Just happened. Would like some feedback on getting it fixed. Don't know if there is a "fix" kit available from jaguar if I have to go back to dealer, or can be repaired by an independent service shop? Thanks, Martyn

No fix kit is available from Jaguar, but it's an easy and inexpensive DIY repair using Rhino Glue, Suck N Clamps, masking tape and paint stirrer sticks. Here's how I did mine, and it's still holding strong.

P.S. I was the first to use Rhino Glue and highly recommend it. The linked thread explains everything - where to buy the materials and how to do it including photos. Reattach the loose area ASAP, as the other part will also fail soon. It's much more difficult to fix if the entire window has separated and is no longer attached to the fabric. There are other adhesives, but IMHO Rhino Glue is the easiest to use with the least mess.

Read the entire linked thread, and take notes, before you start doing the repair.

I am original owner of 2008 XKR convert. Had this problem in June of 2016. Brought it to an auto trim shop in SW PA and found Mustangs, Beemers, MB, etc in his lot with same issue. He charged me $465 and it has held up very well. Car has been in Florida for past five years and probably averages five up/down cycles per week. If you find an experienced shop, repair should not be an issue. The Jag dealer solution is usually soft top replacement for several thousand dollars.

I could have paid a trim shop but prefer doing simple repairs myself, as the satisfaction of a job well done is priceless.

I am often in awe of the profound responses I see on this forum. I actually thought you were asking members if your problem could be solved by an independent service shop. Merely attempting to provide a relevant experience in response to your question.
