Default Air intake duct differences XKR vs XJR

Hi everyone,

I recently attempted to clean my MAF sensor on my X308 2000 XJR and realized its stuck to the air intake duct leading to the throttle body. Long story short i may have to replace the entire air intake duct in order to replace my sensor. While looking up close I noticed that my air intake duct looks like this

https://parts.jaguarvirginiabeach.com/oem-parts/jaguar-air-pipe-nja3555ae?origin=pla&gclid=Cj0KCQjwj_XpBRCCARIsAIt JiuRCyUVB-Uk-ZjUbOA3diyXK7Mf7xvrlEs0lYWUCodILyXzhr-dkDBMaAgltEALw_wcB

However, according to that website the above part does not fit the XJR and recommends the below part

https://parts.jaguarvirginiabeach.com/oem-parts/jaguar-air-pipe-nnf3555ac?c=YT1qYWd1YXImbz14anImeT0yMDAwJnQ9YmFzZS ZlPTQtMGwtdjgtZ2Fz

I am the third owner and wouldnt be surprised if the wrong part was used. Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

In the second link I see there is a duct extension coming off the elbow from the main air duct; what does that connect to?

Thank you

There is also a third type having two "resonators" which is what I have on my Daimler Super V8 (pic below). The "appendages" are resonators (do not connect anywhere, they are closed) and their function is to reduce the intake noise. As the type with two resonators is NLA and hard to find as good used, you can buy the one offered to you with a single resonator or the one without any resonator if you like to hear a bit of "growl" from the intake.

Oh wow thank you so much! Mine must have been replaced with a single resonator version by one of the previous owners. I was concerned something was a miss due to my problem below.

Since I reconnected the air intake duct with the seal around the throttle body port and cleaned the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner Ive noticed on cold startup my engine rpm begins to drop causing the engine to hesitate (almost feels like it will stall) but then increases back to normal. This phenomena only occurs on cold startup and never while stopped at a light or stop sign (this never happened prior to cleaning the sensor). Im assuming my sensor is bad, but what confuses me is this only happens during startup. Could a low battery cause this?

So we can take them off with no negative effects?

Yes, except for somewhat increased intake noise.

I can confirm that the addition of the resonators had no measurable impact on performance on either the NA or SC AJ26 engines. On the SC intake there are 2 resonators. The bent one near the MAF is to reduce Supercharger whine. The straight one nearer the throttle is for an induction drone and used on both NA and SC engines.

The above shows an airbox of an X100 XKR- and you see how the MAF sensor section of the airbox protrudes- on the X308 the MAF sensor portion DOES not protrude. This impacts the intake air tube design going into the throttle
