oil in air intake duct
I happened to take of my air intake and figured I would wipe it down since it seemed to be oily when I noticed the inside of it was covered in oil...
Is this normal?
The following pic what dripped out after I had already scrubbed the inside with a dish brush and soap.

and to make matters worse I broke this breather hose by closing the hood while it was at an angle...

Hi
Yes the oil needs cleaning out yearly. There is a link in the DIY threat at the top of the thread list that gives a link to detailed instructions on this including cleaning the MAF and breather hoses. DiY_Document_Clean_MAFS.pdf

Thanks for the link, coincidentally I had gotten a po455 code last month. After tearing down the drivers front wheel well to inspect the emissions recovery valve I found that simple little "Part-Load Breather Tube" on the left cam cover had become disconnected on its own.

Check the wire mesh/wool has not come adrift in the cam cover, very common, you can see it by shining a torch down the hole where the breather goes.
Alternatively get yourself a aluminium intake pipe and pipe the breather down the front of the engine, at least you will never get oil in your intake again

As Tony says, check to make sure your oil separator is in place in your right-hand valve cover. Details here:

When I had the cam cover off (6 months ago) the screen assembly was still there. When I look into the hole now I see a flat piece of aluminum, not the cams. So I believe the mesh and shield is still in place.
Just ordered a new filter and breather hose from xks unlimited this morning. It will be here tomorrow.
