Default "11 coupe known issues

Guys,
I am looking at a '11 coupe with 42k on the odometer. This would be my 6th Jaguar over the years. Are there any known issues with this year model?
Thanks!

Yes. The "known issues" relate to the 5 litre engine (but not necessarily every 5 litre engine): the water pumps have issues of leakage and wobbling (just like old men) and the timing chain tensioners can begin to rattle at start up. If you can accept these possibilities then there will not be major concerns for you. (The earlier 4.2 litre cars have none if these issues).
But be aware that the XK electronic modules in all model years need full battery voltage all the time; if the battery is putting out anything less that optimal voltage there can be random indicators of system faults ranging from warning lights to the seats, windows, roof and touch screen not operating properly. In virtually every case it is merely a battery issue. The path to zero problems is to keep the car on a permanently installed battery maintainer (CTEK being the preferred brand) and using it when the car is not being driven especially if the pattern is either short runs or infrequent use or a combination of the two - and a battery more than 3 years old when the car is purchased should be replaced immediately - and use of the battery maintainer will prolong the battery life enormously.

I had an '11 coupe that bought with 40,000km on it and sold 2 years later with a bit over 60,000 on it. I had a creak in the steering rack that went away after it was tightened, and an intermittent "active headlamp" warning that ended up needing a new module. Aside from that the car was trouble free.

The biggest issue I see with the coupe, is the inability to go topless motoring!

Haha, well even though topless motoring isnt my cuppa tea, I would agree to the extent that you cant put the back windows down in the coupe so you dont get to hear the epic exhaust to the extent you should (or do in a 'vert).

I'll take my coupe's sensuous curves any day over going topless.

The solution to that (topless vs. topped) is to have one of each!

SOV211 is correct.
No issues with a 4.2 (2007-9)
With the 5.0 XK you have car that is as fast as the old (4.2) XKR, but the there almost certainly will be a water pump replacement in its future if not already done, possible crossover pipe failure, and maybe a little timing chain rattle on startup, but far as I know there have been no timing chain failures related to the rattle.
Other than that, no common mechanical or electrical problems, it is without doubt one of the most beautiful, affordable, and reliable upmarket coupes available.
Regards,

I'm running on vapours here.
My car is produced in 2009 and I still use the original battery, with some accidental low voltage warnings if I let the door open for too long.

I use CTEK twice/year to reformat the battery.
The next battery will be AGM.

Ahem. I have a 2007 XK and it _still_ has a Jaguar battery with 2006 markings...and I do not have any electrical problems...
