Living in this big state one just must explore its vastness and beauty.
My GF and I decided to return to Marfa Texas for their annual ‘Marfa Lights Festival’.
This time we took the long, 1300+ mile route; Austin to Hondo to Langtry (Judge Roy Bean’s story book hometown) to Marathon to Alpine to Big Bend National Park to Terlingua to Lajitas to Presidio to Marfa to Valentine to Fort Davis to Balmorhea to Ozona to Fredericksburg and home!
The car performed great, no issues, great handling, no leaks, only an occasional TPS warning. I must say that the easily applied Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray Coating did wonders. The car would get dirty and dusty then we would drive through a rain storm and it was (almost) picture perfect.
Awakening to a rain drenched XK in Marathon Texas
Chisos Mountains viewed up close and personal from the lodge in Big Bend Park.
Driving route 170 along the Rio Grande River, a fantastic driving and sight-seeing adventure. Mexico over there and us over here.
Truly a geologists ‘wet dream’.
Some of the roads are so long and straight that now and then I was seeing 135~145. The XK felt so stable and the road ways were smooth with no beings in sight. I wasn’t trying to go fast, it just happened.
