Question 2007 Jaguar XKR - only rear park distance sensors?

Did the 2007 Jaguar XKR have the option of parking sensors only in the rear?
Or they were always available as a set (front and back)?

It was optional on the 07 but only on the higher end models apparently.

Yes i know that parking sensors was available but my question is little different. I want know if parking sensors was avilable only for rear end of the car (not front end) or was available as set of front end and rear end as inseparable set.

Rear was standard on all models so every XK should have them. Front was at least optional and standard on a few model years.

The 2007MY European market specification X150 introduced in 2006 only had rear park assist.

pretty sure that was the question I answered. I haven't looked at the module itself. The loom isn't there on my 07. If you wanted to add, you'd have to find one from an 08 or 09 (07, 08 Europe). Looking at the wiring diagram, the module seems to accommodate the additional sensors but like I said, I haven't looked at the actual module in my 07. You would also need to modify the CCF file via SDD to add the option (engineering mode most likely required.) FWIW, I've been looking for a loom for years. Now wondering aloud if RR or Volvo would work. Perhaps an XJ

But those sensors on her nose are ugly… like warts. Besides, I know how to parallel park and I know how to back in to a parking place…. why would I need warts on her nose. :-)

Cheers.

I forgot that I even had them on my other car. I turned them off a few years ago when they got covered with snow and slush on a winter drive and were constantly blaring, and I never turned them back on. Now, I would like a front facing camera to see those curbs when parking, as those ultrasonic sensors usually aren’t very good at picking them up.

Oh come on @kj07xk ! I think you know the dimensions of your car better than that ;-). I tend to park about 16” from any curb. And as I only perform the “correct” way of parallel parking, never at risk of marring her nose or (and I’ve seen this) tearing the sidewall off of the front tire.

"Hi everybody. My name is Justin and I can't parallel park."

Really. In 45 years of driving I have never been able to parallel park worth a damn.

I also find it hard to judge where the end of the car is when backing into a parking space. I wish the rear sensors on the XK didn't go to 'continuous tone' so far away from the obstruction. My XJ's sensors used to let me get several inches closer (until they stopped working altogether - then they let me get very close indeed...).

My issue isn't that I don't know how long the front of my XKR is. It's that I'm not always sure of how high a parking curb is. I suspect that many others feel the same way. Also, always parking 16" away from a curb sometimes puts other areas of the car in a place where other drivers will get closer to hitting it. I can't speak for everyone, but personally, I don't trust that other drivers care about The Gray Ghost as much as I do.

I've been searching, always searching. I have Cambo's CarPlay set up so adding a camera would be easy, I just can't find one obscure enough to hide among the mesh grills. They all stick out like a sore thumb. Thought about the license plate wireless version Stuart uses on his back up but Christ, the think looks gigantic back there. Front needs to be subtle. I want a micro camera, not mini.

For anyone interested in the inexpensive, quick DIY installation, solar-powered wireless HD backup camera from Type S, here's the original thread:

Here's the Type S website. They offer several backup cameras.

Why are some compelled to get as close to the car marring curb, as possible??
Take the high road and always park 18 “ from it.
Added bonus, those inconsiderate *******s that allow their urinating k9s to just go anywhere won’t target your car.
And I for one wouldn’t attest had I never learned the essential driving skills like how to properly parallel park.
(This getting old and grumpy thing is fun! Thanks for teaching me the ropes ?????? !! )
