2007 XK Convertible Top kills Batt.
I test drove a XK a few days ago, interesting story:
Without starting the engine, I tried to put up the convertible roof (the dealer had put it down). The moving mechanisms started, then kaput, dead car. Dealer had to jump start it.
Has this ever happened to anyone else before?

I would imagine a power convertible top uses a a lot of juice, if the battery is weak and sitting for a while no wonder it failed.
How old is the battery? I make it a point never to operate my power top unless the engine is running. Guess I'm "old school".

The car was 07 so I'm guessing the battery was never replaced.
Right on. Never run the top without the engine running, Overload the battery could cause lose of memory Power Top module. Then your really in for a surprise!
"Convertible top manual re-set" READ THE OWNERS MANUAL.
Caution: Do not at any time during the <<<<<<< SAME AS A WEAK BATTERY.
opening or closing of the convertible
top press the engine Start/Stop button
as all movement will cease and the
convertible top will have to be manually
re-set.
