Default 2007 xkr

Hi! I am looking into purchasing a 2007 XKR. I am close in pulling the trigger but am alittle concern about first year built quality. Anything I should be looking for an 2007? The warranty I'm looking at is almost up so I would like to start moding afterwards but I do not see much out there. Can anyone let me know any modificaions that can be done and tuners?

I am new to Jaguar but do not know much about them.

I would recommend you check that the drive belts/tensioner have been changed for the redesigned ones or you may suffer with the squealing on startup.

My XKR is a late '06 plate and I had to have this done just after I bought mine. Luckily before the warranty ran out!

Did I read right where the XK is now a naturally aspirated 410 or 420 HP for the 2011 model. I too am "looking" for an XK(R) and have been searching through the 2007/08 years but sad to say winter is upon us and both our vehicles are away in the garage/barn 'till spring. I am hoping to find something 400+ HP... Without a blower would be a plus... scary $$'s though to put up for a new one.

The new Gen3 5.0L engine in the MY2010 models delivers 380HP/385ps for the N/A version and 503HP/510ps for the supercharged .

What kind of "mods" are you looking for? There is only a few tuners out there that I found but most of them are in the UK. I remember my corvette days where there were such a large array of tuners and products to choose from. I've done the multi piece upper and lower supercharger pulley kit which is good for an additional 50-60HP to the flywheel......pulls harder from the SOTP. I've also done the Milltek Exhaust which should free up a few more ponies. You can also get lowering springs if you don't like the stock ride height.

The car is at the speed shop now (Eurotoys) for additional custom air intake, chip and other appearance mods. All my mods were done by Eurotoys and I would highly recommend them. You can find mods out there but you might have to dig alittle.

Looking forward to your dyno results, have you already done a baseline?

Haven't done a baseline and probably won't dyno the Jag. If I do, I'll dyno on a Dynojet as I've always gotten higher number than Mustang or Dyna Pack dynos.

I'm planning to baseline my SL65 and dyno afterwards as I'm hoping to get just a ECU and tranny Tune down the road for an additional 66HP/102TQ....I'll be close to 670HP/840TQ That would be nice for just a chip and not even touching the motor.

That is a shame, it would be great if we get more true dyno values instead of estimates. It doesn't matter that much on which dyno, as long as you mention the type.

Love those figures from your merc, at least there you can electronicaly alter the boost levels which is why you can get these increases.

I found another 2007 but the antenna is bothering me. * Can you retrofit the antenna to the spoiler and have the dealer sand down the area and paint over?

Another thing, I am concern on owning a jaguar. Would you buy another Xkr if you had to do it again? *This is going to be my 1st jaguar and would like your opinion. How do you compare to your other car?

My 1997 Vanden Plas was an awesome car, and her new owner seems equally as happy. The 2007 XK seems more troubled by electrical gremlins, but that's why I bought it with a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. If you decide to buy a used Jaguar (or Porsche or Mercedes or Audi or some such), I HIGHLY recommend that you do the same!

I enjoy the XKR but if I would have done it again I probably would get a 997TT or an Audi R8 (but again they didn't have the V10 then). XKR is a great GT and the '10+ are faster but still want something more sporty and faster. My buddy was telling me he can get a ECU tune at the Porsche dealer for an additional 100HP and still have full waranty!

Heck even 2010 997TT with PDK ran 0-60MPH in 2.9 seconds.....and that was in stock form! This was in C&D.

Compared to the SL65 AMG, the XKR is slower (that's why I'm modding the XKR ). Eventhough the SL65 is a heavy car, the XKR can't compete with the V12 Twin Turbo. I have to also say the fit and finish and overall built quality isn't as good on the XKR. XKR also does not have as many features (ie. controllable dampaning, massage seats, cooling seats, DIC, convertible hardtop) but what it does have is better looks and better Navi. But when you put price into it (new 2006 SL65 was $185K vs. 2008 XKR around $90K), the XKR is a bargain!!! The SL65 is not $100K nicer....IMO.

I have no regrets on getting the XKR as it always puts a smile whenever I drive it. Also, in my post above regarding modding......too much horsepower corrupts.........I can send my car to Brabus (eventhough I would never do that) to have my car modded....but again too much power corrupts and it's no fun anymore......here is Clarkson testing a Brabus SL65....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dfff-s2OMc
