Default 2007 XKR AC Low Pressure Port

I bought one of those dyi AC rechargers, had a tough time finding the low pressure port to connect it to. When I finally found it between the engine and firewall, there is no apparent way to get to it from what I can see. Has anyone been through this before? It looks like I have to do some disassembly to get to it.

Thanks in advance!

Ya, disassembly required - too bad they didn't place an extension on the piping so folks good get at it easily.

What type of kit did you get?

I did a recharge with Redtek on my Ford Sport Trac - it's been good for 2 years now - I did evacuate the whole system using an old fridge compressor.

Unfortunately in Canada we can't buy regular refrigerant.

Thanks McJag222, quite an odd design to be sure for a maintenance port. I bought an "A/C Pro" unit at Autozone, I thought this would be easy but oh well!

That should work for you if you have lost some pressure - usually you "fill" with the engine running, so you would have to remove the air intake assy to the back of the supercharger - it looks like the assy could be wiggled out from under the cross member that attaches to the left side front wheel strut.

You may have to replace the assy to run the engine while doing the top up - but maybe not, there is a sensor on the intake assy which may throw up fault codes.

Maybe some other member has had some experience with doing a recharge.

Default Photos of low pressure port and recharge

1. Identify low pressure port just behind rear left intake elbow.

2. Loosen hose clamp farthest from aluminum throttle body combiner.

3. Remove hose by pushing on clamp locks.

4. Remove engine cover and LH access panel over master cylinder.

5. Loosen hose clamp on other end of rear LH intake elbow. Pop front elbow from retaining bolt

6. Wiggle to remove both ends of rear elbow.

7. Once both ends are free rotate elbow towards you and sp8n clockwise to remove.

8. Access to port now easy. Connect recharger to port. Reinstall rear intake elbow and tighten clamps. Reinstall elbow sensor tube.

9. Recharge connector on and elbow reinstalled.

10. Recharge hose snaked down to port.

11. Recharge per instructions of recharge kit. Once recharged, removal is reverse of this procedure.

Low pressure recharge port is located behind throttle body combiner (or that's what I call it) and firewall. Work is done from left side of vehicle. You'll need only a Philips and sloted driver.
