Default 2008 msrp

How can I find the MSRP of my car when it was first sold in 2008? Is there a database of base MSRP and option codes somewhere on the Web? I have had no luck with Google etc.

agentorange - just curious - how did you get your screen name?

Do you have an XK or XKR, or a coupe or convertible? Do you know what options are on your car? Your Jaguar dealer should be able to give you a printout of the Mulroney window sticker details based on your VIN.

See this link for 2008 XK/XKR cpe/cvt MSRP with options:
2008 Jaguar XK Options and Packages-Vehix
Mouse over the different body styles to get to your model, then click on pricing in left column.

Hope this helps.

Sometimes I can be a little caustic when called out by "experts" on online car forums. Remember that an "ex spurt" is a former drip under pressure. So, I thought a really toxic screen name might give one or two of pause. Besides, I think "FluffyBunny" was taken.

Seriously, I happened to catch a blip on the subject during a history show and with my twisted sense of humour (yes, I'm British) I thought it would make a "different" screen name. Let me know via the mods if it causes any offense.

Many thanks for the link. I need to have a fiddle to see if it has adaptive cruise or not. I think not, as I have not seen anything to suggest it when I engage the cruise control. RTFM required. So far my MSRP is $95,410. The DMV here calculates the registration charges based on the original MSRP of the vehicle. Whether they do it on the base figures or with options I am unsure. The joke is they call it a "fee" when it is clearly a tax. It is all part of the smoke and mirrors game to make us seem like a low tax state.

Many thanks. I got to $95,410 with the options I could see, so I must have missed one, probably a tech package of some sort.

Default Adaptive Cruise - Steering Wheel Controls

You can easily tell if you have adaptive cruise by the steering wheel controls. If you have 2 thumbwheel controls, you have adaptive cruise. The left control (with the speedo icon) adjusts the cruise speed up (+) or down (-) with a display in the message center, and the right control (with the <-> icon) adjusts the gap (+ to increase, - to decrease) to one of four preset distances, also shown in the message center. Some folks hate ACC, but I really like it and use it all the time. The other push buttons are to cancel and resume the ACC. Here's a closeup of my steering wheel ACC controls:

Thanks for the explanation of your screen name. I thought you, too, might be a Vietnam vet. I suspect I was exposed to agent orange in 1969 and that it caused my sense of humor to become preverted (not a spelling misteak). Please accept my apology, as I erroneously thought your screen name was a veiled reference to bragging rights regarding defoliating pretty little flowers. Now that's what I call twisted humor!

Stuart

No apology required.

Thanks for your photo as it confirms that I DO NOT have ACC and its associated package. So, I wonder what the other option might be.

No ACC is fine with me given how they drive on the freeway in this city. We have many that suffer from Asphalt Agoraphobia (AA), the morbid dread of an empty piece of highway more than 25 yards long. This dread is caused by an urban legend that if you allow enough road to be clear, it will suddenly rear up and consume the next car and its occupants. Other symptoms are the willingness to exceed the speed limit by 15+ mph to catch up with the next group of cars that are already travelling at 5-10 over. When called on this, AA sufferers will not look you in the eye, instead muttering something about "keeping up with traffic". Also see "herd instinct" in your handy dictionary.

$97,075 is the number I shall give to the DMV. Car registration here is based on depreciated MSRP, and I am about to get a proper kicking behind the bike sheds. Oh well, my fault for having expensive tastes.
