Cool 2008 xk 4.2 - no USB port

Hi all,

I have just bought a 2008 xk 4.2 with the upgraded sound system, but, there appears to be no USB port?

Am I somehow missing it? I looked in the storage area between the 2 front seats, and it is not there (as I have seen in photos posted by others)

Does anyone have any ideas? Did the upgraded sound system not come with this type of connectivity?

Cheers,

Ian

For your model year there was no USB port provided, regardless of the entertainment system specified.
Later models caught up with expectations.

There is a CHANCE that you MAY have an audio input inside the glove box. Depends on the original build.

It depends what you mean by "upgraded sound system". The early XK was available with:

1. Base Audio System
2. Premium Audio System

The difference between the two was an audio amplifier and additional/higher specification speakers. Neither gave the option of a USB input. Responsing to criticism of the inadequacy of these offerings, Jaguar introduced the Audio Connectivity Module as an (expensive) accessory which allowed the direct attachment of USB and iPod.

yes, it was the premium system... I will try ans pair my iPhone 6s, that way I can play music from my phone...

Thanks to all of you for the answers... I have always wanted an XK, and after 4 years with a Tesla Model S and then 3 years with a Nissan Leaf, this is my first foray back into V8 motoring!!! (and 3 days in, I am loving the burble!!)

You cannot stream music from the phone using the factory bluetooth, it's only for calls.

There is a way to add simple bluetooth streaming though, you will need to get a Jaguar dealer to enable the AUX input (it's a 30min programming job), and then you can plug in one of the bluetooth adaptors to the back of the radio.

I may give that a try... for now I am going to go low tech (and cheap) and try a bluetooth to FM radio device and see what the quality is like... I''ll let y'all know how it works!

Bovee is a popular brand in this forum. Available from Amazon and a lot of other places.

Hi all, I must be lucky: my MY07 4.2 has an aux/usb thingy in the glove box. Does that mean i can insert a USB receiver and it will work ? (alpine audio)
