xk 4.2
Hi Folks...I have my eye on a 2007 xk that's mint. Before I take the plunge i'd like to know if i'm doing the right thing. Can anyone give me advice/pointers on what to look for etc.

The 4.2 is a simple car, and I enjoy that.
If its been driven and maintained, there probably won't be any issues.
Most of the problems are with cars seldom driven, and often a new battery combined with driving the car sorts them out.
Beyond that, it is just the usual aging of rubber that effects all cars nearly alike.

It's the right thing to do. The body shell and interior trim is XK specific but pretty much everything else shares parts with other Jaguar, Ford and Volvo models. Before buying make sure everything works, especially the electronics.
Also, before buying an XK at least test drive an XKR. The XK is somewhat more luxurious but the ten year old XKR is borderline supercar level performance at current new family sedan pricing. I walked a new 5.0 Mustang from 90+ a couple weeks ago with a measly 4.2...

I've had mine for just over a year now.
The only issues I have had are ...
- The dreaded 'Duck-Bill' issue (blockages of the A/C drain resulting in significant water ingress in the passenger footwell)
- The geometry of the wheels needed a full alignment (can't remember the term at the moment)
Other than that it's a fantastic car with bags of 'grin' factor.
As an aside, I deliberately chose the XK over the XKR as I wanted a sporty GT rather than a 'racing car'. All of the XKRs I looked at, seemed that they had been driven hard, whereas the XKs seemed to have had a more sympathetic drive (therefore having a longer lifespan)
Enjoy the car - post some pics when you get it

Thanks Geoff.....I'll keep my eye on the AC drain pipe. I'm picking it up next Thursday.....silver with black interior...absolutely mint condition with only 28k miles on a 2007 plate with full JSH. Can't wait.

Enjoy but remember. If there are no pics, this didn't really happen.
Verify that the drivers side seat works right (try out ALL of the buttons), and make sure you can find a comfortable seating position. Sometimes the seats needs to be recalibrated by the dealer to allow it to extend its full range of motion (especially recline)
