It's "freeze frame" data and to some extent yes. It saves whatever it thinks may assist diagnosis.
(It may also save things you'd need the jag tool to get.)
By way of example, if a lean code flagged it can be helpful to look at the data to see if the other bank was close to throwing a code or not i.e. is the issue one side or both.
