A right side inner XK tail lamp is available for US$100 on eBay (US).

Here's the eBay US link:

For my $0.02, I'd rather buy both sides new from a dealer and have a parts warranty.

Agree about the parts warranty. However, the inner units are only about $130 new anyways so the US ebay link isn't an appealing option. The UK ones for the outer units (after exchange rate) are over 65% cheaper. I was just surprised.

Either way, I've already done the conversion with overpriced parts from my local jaguar.

HI, I'm new to the forum. I’m collecting info on some mods to complete on my 2009 XKR.
Why can’t we view the PDF of modifications to fit the lamps? Also the photos are removed. Any help appreciated. Regards Bob

Sorry for the last post. Just read the read this first. It takes a few days to unlock the photos and PDF's I think. Bob

Has anyone used the Adamesh conversion kit or their wiring harness?

See: http://www.adamesh.co.uk/jaguar-xk--...ion-2000-p.asp

I've just had the Adamesh lights fitted & they instantly transform & update the look of the car. As stated in the ad, not only do you get much brighter tail & brake lights but also two reverse lights & two rear fogs instead of the previous single lights.

It's expensive at £700 (Approx $1100) and I paid £175 ($280) to get them professionally fitted by an Auto Electrician. This is not a job you should attempt yourself unless you know your way around car electrics.

In the kit you get full fitting instructions, the inner & outer LED lights, a new harness for the reverse/fog lights, various relays & connectors & four round amber indicator lights that are connected so you don't get a bulb out message on the dash. These are tucked away behind the trim, but are easily accessible if a bulb blows. (These have replaced the previous interior type lamps that had festoon bulbs and could overheat)

I'm really happy with the conversion & would recommend it to anyone who wants to freshen up the look of your XK.

Geoff Adams at Adamesh is very helpful, and kept me informed of order receipt & despatch etc. You can contact him on info@adamesh.co.uk

Mine took about 3 weeks to arrive, but they were waiting for new harnesses t come in- I guess it would normally be much faster than that if they have everything in stock.

Incidentally, the lights & harness are genuine Jaguar parts - They have the Jag part no & leaper on them

Good luck!
Pendle

Thanks, Pendle but you're in the UK and we know the Adamesh kit works on your cars. What we don't know is how it works on US models. Issues were previously reported.

Has anyone in the US recently installed the Adamesh kit?

lilfreddie,
I liked the look of GhostriderXKR08's XKR so much that I ordered the same kit from Mina Galleries in Reseda, CA. (I live about 10 minutes away.) This is the RS side skirt and front splitter from their website. I purchased a separate rear bumper/diffuser from F/X Designs in Chicago. I couldn't resist. (see link below)

The rear bumper was put on my car last week, and the RS skirts and front splitter are being installed TODAY! Hopefully painted by the end of the week and back home next Monday or so. Can't wait.

Thanks to George's terrific write up, I was able to undertake the task, and have converted my taillights to LED!

Taillights_Installed.jpg

So many thanks to George!

There was one thing in doc that got me confused (not unexpected), and that had to do with the pin-outs and wiring the stop/turn/tail light unit.
George suggested modifying the socket (changing the position of the female connections) on the car side of the connection, to make it easier to replace the lamp unit in the future, while his pictures showed that he had modified the socket connector on the lamp side of the connection (rearranged the male pins).
George is a certified tech, so I'm sure he has the tools and expertise to do this, but for the life of me, I couldn't get the individual female (or male) connectors out of the socket. So I had to come up with another solution.

So I opened up the wiring harness on the inside the car, and cut the individual wires and put male and female disconnect connectors on them (female toward the lamp, and male toward the car), such that I could rearrange the wiring to the socket, without accidentally breaking the socket in trying to take it apart. This is what the left side looks like now:

Taillight_Wiring.JPG

I had a bit of trouble understanding George's tables of the socket pin changes. His starting point for the 2007 wiring for the left and right sockets is very clear, its just how he tries to explain what you want to end up with for the 2010+ wiring that baffled me. So I logged into Topix and looked at the wiring diagrams for the 2007 and 2010 models, and here's my simplified guide that I used to tell me what I wanted the final configuration to be:

Pin 1 = Tail lamp
Pin 2 = Stop lamp
Pin 3 = unused
Pin 4 = Turn signal
Pin 5 = Ground
Pin 6 = unused (but I did not cut this wire, I left it connected)

The above applies to both the left and right sides.

Again... Thanks George!

kj07xk,

Very nice! I see that you also have Steve's (White XKR) remote top kit. Did you install it yourself? If so, how do you compare that job to your LED tail light conversion? I thought Steve's step-by-step instructions were outstanding, particularly since I'm not a mechanic.

It would be great if Steve (or someone else) could put together a similar wiring harness kit with the required connectors and modifications and his great step-by-step instructions to make it easy for 4.2L owners like me to do this conversion and know it will work without any problems.

Stuart
