Dear Jag Lovers, I'm trying to find the live wire going to the reverse light on the drivers side being left. In the Boot/Trunk to the left is a panel that contains wires and the jump for the battery. I believe this is where the wire for the reverse light is located for my 2011 Jaguar XK coupe. I need desperately to know the color of the wire so I can tap into it to control the reverse screen on my CarPlay unit. There is a Red Wire that you need to connect to the reverse light wire.
Things have changed and you don't have the old conventional electrical system in your Jaguar?
Without writing a book you need to understand the way bulbs are now powered is completely different?
If you check you will find the lights will always have 12 VDC supplied to them. In other words the wires are "alive" 100% of the time.
The car determines what you want done with the lights. Like turn them on and off or turn the turn signals on or turn on the backup lights. How they do this is the bulbs are grounded thru control modules to activate them. The grounds are turned on and off not the power like in the old days. Confusing to me too!

Hello All,
im wondering if someone could tell me which wire to the reverse light is active(HOT) I need to connect a CarPlay screen and the wires run to the back hatch. There is a RED wire that needs to be connected to the reverse light wire to activate the screen when gear knob is placed in reverse- this way it will automatically come on. I'm looking at the wires in the left side of the trunk where there is a panel you can remove to access the jumper cable to the battery and then a few connection plugs with wires attached.
if you need pictures of the cubby I'm speaking of I can post those pictures.
Thank you for any answers!!
I have searched the entire web for info or even a schematic, I found nothing for my particular XK.
You should test it to confirm but you will have power in reverse @CA23/ pin 4 Orange and Green wire in the Auxiliary junction box. Pic attached. Connector CA23 is the green one in the pic (upper left). Easier access for your purpose I'd imagine.
