2011 XKR Key Fob Woes....
Can someone help with a 2011 XKR key fob. I have two, one stopped working. The other seems ok, but the battery didn't last very long the first time I changed it. What is their life span? i don't even drive it daily.
Also the little spring that pops the key out has become bent...very fragile buggers!

If you need to replace the spring search for C2P15137. There are a few options on EBAY or your local dealer may be able to supply one reasonably cheaply.
The battery should last for quite a few months if not years but there are a lot of cheap/poor batteries for sale so I would try a different brand.

The vehicle should warn when the smartkey battery needs replacing displaying SMART KEY BATTERY LOW in the message centre.
I always replace the batteries immediately with a new (to me) Jaguar and use premium CR2032 batteries. I kept my last XK for four years and the smartkey batteries never needed replacing in that time.
There was an issue with early smartkeys. The rear cover didn't put sufficient pressure on the battery to ensure good contact and the smartkey could fail to function. A later re-design of the cover resolved this. Replacement covers (or full repair kits) are available from Jaguar and are also listed by some dubious Chinese sources on ebay. The genuine rear cover has Jaguar and the logo embossed. Copies generally don't.

Here in the UK, a new replacement smartkey is 170 UKP ($240) from Jaguar. Parts prices are usually higher in the US and it could be a lot more.
Repair is only half the solution. Unlike remote fobs on earlier models which can be DIY programmed by an owner, the smartkey has to be paired with the vehicle using dealer level diagnostics.

I would also think it is dependent on usage. I have 2 fob that I got with the car. I use one as my primary unit and the other is put away with the rest of my 2nd keys. I replaced both batteries when I got the car in 2014. I have put around 14,000 miles on the car and early last year I got the low key warning. I replaced that battery but not the 2nd key. Now recently I purchased a TPMS tester and it has a key fob test function. So I checked each key and it showed 80% on my primary key and 95% on my 2nd key which is not used. Now I don't know how good the test reader is but it does show a difference. So now I'll do a yearly test when I get my annual car inspection and replace as necessary.
