Default 2012-2013 XKR/XKR-S owners...

I'm looking hard at buying a low-mile '12 or '13... shopping vs. GT-R, mainly. The Jaguar is sooooo much better looking that it's pulling ahead.

So, current owners: what, if any, are your pet peeves with your XKR(-S)? please mention anything that annoys you, even though you love the car as a whole.

Obviously, I'd also like to hear of any major problems anyone may have experienced, although from reading in the forum these seem to be very rare.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts... it's sometimes the small things that drive us a little nuts... and I'm hopeful that there aren't any characteristics (idiosyncracies?) of the XKR that might nag at me.

Hi Rw99,

Do not hesitate. I have my XKRS convertible for 4 months now, put 8 000 miles on, and it still a GREAT feeling everytime I get behind the wheel. That's the best machine I ever had.
If you don't like to be looked at, choose something else. It's a real head turning car.

No problem at all. Just a lot of fun.

I'll put the cat in the garage for the winter next week-end and I already miss her!!!

I own the hardtop version of queb's jag. I did have a chirp in the rear that was fixed - it was a rare problem and came from a cable causing noise on the body - was fixed as soon as we realized what it was.

I love the car SO MUCH i bought ANOTHER....So now I have a XKR and a XKR-S.

THAT TELLS YA RIGHT THERE BROTHER.... GET THE JAG!!!

Its sounds better, It feels better, it may not be AWD or as fast....but its FAST ENOUGH... Its a head turner and topic of discussion everywhere you go... I literally look for secluded gas stations to fill up because of the crowds of people it will draw and having to explain what it is everytime. BEST CAR EVER.

That being said it needs a bigger gas tank- 16 gallons is a bit too small.

YeaH! R_Rated remember me that little problem..... The infotainment is slow, past date, etc. But at the end of the day, we really don't care. It's a minor issue in comparasion to the LOT of fun we have with our cars...

WOW Loth!!!

An XKR AND an XKRS!!!

Impressive. Both hard top?

If I wouldn't be living in Quebec, that could be an option, but we need two 4X4 for the winter.

Thanks for the input. Regarding the infotainment, my understanding is that it's a slow menu system, without shortcuts from function to function. No Bluetooth streaming of Pandora from your smartphone. Dated appearance. Any other problems, or functions that don't work well?

Is the NAV decent?

I cross shopped a gtr and 997 turbo S, but ended up with Xkr-s and glad that I made that choice. The combination of looks, performance, sound, and daily drivability made the jag the best choice for me. I did not choose the gtr due to its exterior looks (mostly), Nissan experience (car buying, service, etc), and racer boy stereotype. However, if you want to track your car or modify it for higher hp, then the gtr would be a better choice.
I would go for the Xkr-s over the Xkr, since performance is important to you (unless u want to mod a Xkr).
I have had no major problems with my car at 1.5 yrs. I think the infotainment is ok (not as good as some cars) and the nav is fine. Only drawbacks I see are small gas tank (16 gal) and poor mpg.
Good luck with your search

If you want a car with exotic performance and looks without the exotic maintenance headaches... XKR
If you want a car that will straight-out embarrass most every other car on the road... XKR
If you want to have an exclusive, head-turning ride that will have women swooning, and men envying... XKR

Funny, I suddenly forgot what I was comparing it to...

Default Xkr

Hey Rw99, I looked at the GT-R, Porche 911 Turbo S and XKR-S. I bought my second XKR in July. I got the dynamic pack and performance exhaust as options to give it the same performance as the XKR-S without the more aggressive body kit and performance seats (I wanted cooled seats). I also got a great deal on the most perfect used car with only 300 miles on it. After selling my 2011 XKR 175 I realized I could not live without another XKR. I seriously considered the GT-R, but had the same concerns as you. I'm happy with my new XKR--I enjoy just looking at it. The infotainment system may be a tad slow; however, it functions perfect and I'm happy with it. My Volvo's infotainment system is a nightmare compared to the XKR's.

The XKR is sooooo much classier than the GT-R and is just as much fun on the street. A used 2012 XKR-S is going for around $89K and was $140K new. It's the best used car buy around.
