This is the back of the light (this is the old unit) the black around the torx screw is just some kind of felt washer. I believe the rusty bits that have fallen apart are called U nuts after googling, I know it’s a T20 but I don’t know what thread it would have. It’s bloody annoying, I just presumed all I would need would come with the new fitting.

Try a local auto parts store, they should have a selection of these to chose from. (You can find assortments on Amazon, but you don’t need that many.)

Just a quick update, I went to Halfords of all places and bought a small packet of assorted U nuts. Used the size needed for the T20 torx bolt and everything is good. It’s just a warning for anyone else removing or changing this light fixture, my U nuts were corroded to nothing, so may be a good idea to have some of these before starting the job, they were less than a couple of quid. Thank you for all the advice 👍

You might want to tag @georgekale correctly to maybe get his attention, as I think he sold his X150 several years ago, and probably doesn’t keep up with this forum anymore.

Thank you for this! Would anyone have a pic showing the location of this diode pack on a 2013 convertible? Is it in the boot lid somewhere?
and a part number if possible?
thanks
Alan

Default Another development

So after hard reset and overnight charging a couple of times with the ctek the lamp would sometimes work on startup and sometimes not so the led unit itself is ok. I have no idea if it was working while I was driving. Yesterday I got in and put my foot on the brake to start and could see it lit in the rear view mirror reflected on the wall. I kept foot on the brake while engine was running and I was preparing to move off then it (the center brake light) just went out for no apparent reason. Is there some sort of safety relay similar to if you hold the window switches for too long to prevent burnout?

Maybe that troublesome diode is slowly failing?
