Default 5.0 XK Low temperature thermostat install

Good day everyone,

This past weekend I fitted a low temperature thermostat rated to open at 85c vs the 95c stock one.
After testing the thermostat successfully prior to install, I installed it and a new thermostat housing.
A few observations were made:
My original thermostat only has one resistant spring inside the housing.
The new thermostat has 2 springs inside the housing.
The original thermostat's spring is easy to compress
The new thermostat has a very stiff spring.

Results:
Car actually runs hotter than it used to staying steady around 95-98c highway and in traffic
but very consistent.
I understand the ECM must be repogrammed to kick fans on early to get better cooling from a low
temp thermostat however, on the highway I would expect my car to run cooler, not hotter.

I am considering putting in the stock 95c thermostat back in.

Thoughts?

I don't know if the 10c lower opening t-stat difference will cause a problem, but the ecm expects the coolant temp to reach operating temp, and will throw a code if it does not

No codes were thrown, as I live in a warmer climate.
the engine runs hotter on the highway now..

Coolant circulating too fast, not in the radiator long enough to shed heat.

My original thermostat housing was cracked internally, this is why I was changing it.

Would you suggest re-installing the factory 95c thermostat(came with the new housing) for better highway temps?

Yes, the t-stat housings fail; as far as the t-stat itself, if it wasn't overheating with the original t-stat, I would reinstall it, or a new correct temp one, if it was my car

Anyone know software that can change the temperature the fans kick on via OBD2?
