Default 75,000 service for XK's.

I have approx 65,000 on my 2010 XK an recently asked a local Jaguar dealership how much and what is done at their 75,000 service for XK's. I don't remember all the things they do/perform after I heard the price being over $1200.

spgribben007, not sure if you realized it or not, but you posted in the X-Type section about an XK topic. Not sure how relevant it is to an X-Type owner, so best to post in the XK forum.

Plus, this thread has not had any activity on it in over eight years.

I've moved your question from X-Type to XK/XKR forum.

You can get the schedule free from jag's site but $1200 sounds a HECK of a lot. Oil etc change really isn't costly but they sure would charge anyway.

You could ask for a break down on that quote.

When I approach closer to 75,000 I'll have them give me a detailed list. What I can remember now... in addition to the oil change they change all the fluids, lube the chassis, re-flash the CPU, electronically tune the engine, inspect the brakes...

If *all* the fluids, including the transmission fluid, that may not be too out of ball park.

They do a few things that are easy cheap DIY an charge dealer rates for like paste the windscreen, change cabin filter, check horn function, change air filters, etc. You can have them skip a few of these services to save some coin.

Is the transmission filter part of the plastic pan on the XK? I just paid $330 for six quarts of ZF trans fluid and pan+filter for my XJ w/ 8 speed transmission. I know the pan is different, but as I remember it had an internal filter as well. if it does $1200 is probably a good price, if it includes all the fluids, from the dealer.

I doubt it is included in the dealer's service as the ZF is "sealed for life" and never needs the fluid changed. According to Jaguar anyway. But don't forget the windshield paste! That is important!

I was looking into it yesterday.

There are two schedules, the "maintenance schedule", and the "Service Schedule".

The service schedule runs in 10,000 Mile increments or one year. It contains important replacement items and inspections.

Then there is the Maintenance Schedule, which follows different increments than the service schedule. It is almost 100% inspections that you can probably do yourself if inclined. The 75K increment if in miles is on the Maintenance Schedule.

$330 for a pan and fluid? I got my pan for $78 and 12 quarts of fluid for $129. Course, no labor for that, but my indie shop buddy will do it all for $60.

Where did you get the pan and fluid? I will need to change my XK fluid before long. I believe the six speed XK pan is different than the eight speed XJ transmission pan. The *BEST* price I could find for the pan+filter for my eight speed XJ transmission was ~$225.

I bought mine on eBay for $68 shipped including new screws and gasket. Vendor was perfitparts. Advertised as a BMW 6HP26 but of course it's the same transmission as my 07. Fit perfect, no leaks.

Bought the fluid on eBay from anhautoparts - 6 liters of ZF liquid gold for $136.75 shipped. I already had 1 liter on hand.

I can't find where I got the mechatronic sleeve but my notes say it was $16.99.

There's a vendor who advertised on this forum who is a ZF parts place. I bought the kit for my XK and XJ transmissions. Between the kit and labor at indy, it was about $500

Yep "The CTSC" is a common vendor used. Overpriced imo. I'm not sure they advertise on this forum though.

No affiliation
6 Speed oil change kit Jaguar

Might be worth reaching out to vendors on this site as well.

Yeah, I guess the 6-speed is cheaper. I was also a bit off, wasn't $78, but $54 instead. My bad. Free prime shipping from Amazon.

Am I seeing this wrong? To me it looks like the best price since its Genuine ZF plus you get the sleeve and you know the fluid is genuine too.

It looks like he's come down to earth now that so many cars use the same transmission. He's now competing with eBay.

I've never heard of counterfeit ZF fluid but hey, first time for everything.

The price listed on CTSC is now $100 lower than when I last bought from him. I'm not sure it's the best price, but it's certainly within reason.

Note that there are only 5 extra screws. You will be lucky to break only 5. The newer screws have larger heads and less prone to breaking. Also, he charges $30 to ship (at least here in Minnesota). Just things to consider, but not deal breakers.

I would recommend you have at least 7 liters of fluid on hand. One of the two I've done needed 6 1/2 - 7. I don't remember which car.
And lastly, if you're not DIY, consider pricing the change at a Hyundai dealer. Their rates might be a tad lower than a Jag dealership, I dunno.

I would buy from him again just based on piece of mind and good previous buying experience.
